Agartala, May 09: Tripura is poised to introduce an e-attendance system for teachers across all government schools, aiming to enhance transparency in attendance tracking, a senior official announced on Thursday.

Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for School Education, Abhijit Samajpati, revealed that the state government had already implemented an e-attendance system in select offices, including the civil secretariat, and now plans to extend it to schools.

Samajpati elaborated that the initiative would not only cover teachers but also include students in government schools, with implementation slated six months after its rollout for teachers.

Training sessions on operating the e-attendance system have commenced to ensure smooth integration, he added.

Further detailing the plan, Samajpati mentioned the eventual incorporation of geo-tagging, envisioning a fully digitized system.

Tripura currently hosts 2,640 government schools with a teaching staff of 25,064 overseeing 4,76,609 enrolled students, according to official statistics.
