Tripura: Launch of 'Mother on Campus' Program For Boarding Hostellers

Tripura, Nov 17: A new initiative called ‘Mother on Campus‘ was introduced by the Tripura Government on Tuesday, November 16. Implementation of the initiative is scheduled to begin in December 2021. In the Tripura Mother on Campus initiative, students living in government hostels are being encouraged to become more attentive in their studies.

Mothers who raised their children biologically or adopted them legally will be allowed to stay with their children under this scheme. A change is expected in the environment of government-run hostels since it will apply to all children staying there.

The mother will be able to stay with her child for up to a week. The scheme will not be extended, and no other guardian will be allowed to take advantage of it except the mother.

Mother on Campus‘ is an education initiative in Tripura under the direction of State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath which enables mothers to live in hostels with their children.

As part of his announcement, the Minister also announced that the State government will be responsible for the cost of food and other amenities in mothers’ hostels. 9,935 students living in 204 hostels in Tripura will benefit from this program.

Mothers were asked to provide feedback on cleanliness, food, and other services they received while they were staying in the hostel. Boys hostels will be equipped with separated restrooms. If there are no facilities available or they cannot be arranged, the program will not apply.
