New Delhi, Feb 18: Amid swirling rumors of Congress MP Manish Tewari’s purported switch to the BJP, his office categorically dismissed such claims as “baseless” and “unfounded” on Sunday.

Addressing the speculation, Tewari’s office emphasized that he remains committed to his constituency, actively engaged in developmental activities. His recent stay at a Congress worker’s residence underscores his continued allegiance to the party.

While initial reports suggested Tewari’s alleged communication with the BJP, particularly regarding contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the Ludhiana constituency on the BJP’s ticket, his office vehemently refuted such claims, reaffirming his dedication to the Congress party.

This development unfolds amidst broader speculations surrounding the potential defection of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath, along with other MPs, to the BJP.

Dismissed by Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari as “baseless,” the rumors surrounding Kamal Nath’s purported shift stem from reported discontent over not securing a Rajya Sabha berth.

Sources within the Congress suggest a strained relationship between Kamal Nath and the party leadership, with alleged lobbying for a Rajya Sabha ticket exacerbating tensions.

Fueling the conjecture, Kamal Nath’s recent visit to Delhi sparked further speculation, prompting inquiries from reporters.

While Kamal Nath refrained from outright denial, he maintained that any significant developments would be communicated to the media first.

His removal as the head of the Madhya Pradesh Congress unit following the party’s electoral setback last year has fueled speculation regarding his future political alignment.

The BJP‘s dominant performance in the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, securing 163 out of 230 seats, has added weight to rumors of potential defections.

As political dynamics continue to evolve, these developments underscore the fluidity of Indian politics, with individual ambitions and party realignments shaping the landscape ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
