In light of these events, the Deputy Commissioner urged all pilgrims to verify their registration permits to ensure their validity. This precautionary measure will further enhance the security arrangements and protect genuine pilgrims from falling victim to fraudulent practices.

This breakthrough comes shortly after the Jammu and Kashmir administration successfully dismantled a racket involved in issuing counterfeit registration slips to Amarnath Yatra pilgrims on June 29. The operation unfolded when two buses carrying devotees from Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh arrived in Jammu.

The fraudulent activity came to light when one of the buses, transporting 68 Amarnath pilgrims, reached Shri Chichi Mata Mandir in Samba for e-KYC verification and RFID card issuance. The meticulous e-KYC team of District Samba, led by the District Informatics Officer, promptly discovered that most of the Yatra permits presented by the pilgrims were counterfeit, with tampered information.

Further investigations revealed that these unsuspecting pilgrims had been charged an exorbitant sum of Rs 7,000 per person for the issuance of these fraudulent permits. The administration wasted no time in taking swift action against the racket, and the police launched an investigation to bring those responsible to justice.

As the 62-day Amarnath Yatra commenced on July 1 and will conclude on August 31, it is crucial for all authorities and stakeholders involved to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of the pilgrims. Such instances of fraud highlight the significance of robust security measures, thorough verification processes, and the need for strict adherence to authorized registration procedures.

The Jammu district administration’s diligent efforts in detecting and addressing these counterfeit permits demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding the sanctity of the Amarnath Yatra and the well-being of the pilgrims. By exposing these fraudulent activities, the administration has undoubtedly averted potential risks and upheld the integrity of the pilgrimage.

As the Yatra progresses, it is imperative for all pilgrims to remain vigilant, follow the prescribed registration procedures, and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The administration, in collaboration with the police, will continue to enforce stringent measures to ensure a safe and memorable pilgrimage experience for all devotees embarking on the Amarnath Yatra.

The detection of 300 fake permits by the Jammu district administration serves as a testament to their unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims.
