Itanagar, July 11: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu convened a high-level meeting to address severe road disruptions caused by recent floods and landslides.
Joined by Chief Secretary Dharmendra and senior officials, the meeting focused on assessing damage and strategizing immediate restoration efforts across the state.
Khandu stressed the urgency of restoring road connectivity swiftly, especially in districts heavily affected by floods. “Swift restoration of roads disrupted by floods and landslides is crucial for ensuring access to essential services and relief,” he emphasized.
To expedite efforts, special funds were allocated by the Chief Minister for the urgent restoration of the vital Parsi-Parlo to Koloriang road, including its bridge over the Kumey River. “Preparation and immediate implementation of the restoration plan are priorities,” he directed. “Work should begin promptly in Kurung Kumey and other affected districts.”

Furthermore, Khandu instructed relevant departments to ensure the timely delivery of essential medicines and food supplies to impacted areas.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister was briefed on the successful reopening of the Damin road by Kurung Kumey district authorities, enabling vehicular traffic after days of closure due to relentless rainfall and flooding.
