Guwahati, Dec 31: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to mark a significant milestone on January 1 by laying the foundation stone for Guwahati’s longest flyover—a visionary infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity in the bustling capital of Assam.

The ambitious flyover, spanning an impressive 4.5 kilometers from Dighalipukhuri to Noonmati FCI godown, symbolizes the state’s commitment to urban mobility and progress.

Expected to cost Rs 853 crore, this four-lane marvel is the second longest flyover in India, promising to streamline traffic flow and catalyze economic activity between two vital points in the city.

The decision to undertake this project was announced following a cabinet meeting in Jorhat, reflecting the government’s proactive stance in addressing the challenges of rapid urbanization.

The flyover is part of a broader initiative that includes constructing multiple flyovers and bridges across Assam, aimed at transforming the transportation landscape of the region.

As the foundation stone is laid, Guwahati residents can anticipate the emergence of a structure that not only resolves traffic issues but also serves as a gateway to enhanced opportunities and overall development in the city.
