Guwahati, Feb 05: The Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly kicks off today, February 5, and is set to extend until February 28.
The session will open with an address by Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.
On February 12, Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog is scheduled to present the state budget for the fiscal year 2024-25.
Stringent security measures have been implemented in the assembly premises in preparation for the budget session.

During this session, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the introduction of the Assam Polygamy Ban Bill.
Additionally, the Assam Tourism (Development and Registration) Bill, 2024, along with several new and amendment bills, will be presented.
