Shillong, Feb 26: Following in the footsteps of his father, former Meghalaya chief minister PA Sangma, incumbent CM, and NPP leader Conrad K Sangma wrapped up his poll campaign here at the famous Tura bazar in his hometown in West Garo hills with a jig and sweets for his supporters on Saturday evening.
Hundreds of people, belonging to the Garo, Bengali, and Muslim communities, gathered near the supermarket at the Tura Bazar when their chief minister came on foot like a common man.

Stating that this place makes him nostalgic, Conrad highlighted the achievements of his government in the last five years and appealed to the people to vote wisely so that the state can progress in the path of development.

Meanwhile, people from neighbouring Assam and other parts of the country, have returned to their home state to exercise their right to vote.
Turan Marak, who runs a hotel here, said elections are like a festival here. “Songs are played by political parties to which supporters dance. People who live outside the state have already come back to vote.”
