Moreh, Jan 02: In a disturbing turn of events, Manipur is grappling with a renewed surge of violence, with the border town of Moreh becoming the epicenter of the latest conflict.
On January 2, armed miscreants unleashed an ambush targeting vehicles carrying police commandos en route to the border town near Myanmar. The assailants employed RPGs (Rocket-Propelled Grenades) in the brazen attack.
Amidst the chaos, four injured police commandos and one Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were urgently airlifted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal for immediate medical attention. However, the violence did not subside as armed miscreants aimed at the chopper designated for the evacuation, opening fire and further intensifying the perilous situation.
The injured security personnel identified as Maibam Thoiba, Chabungbam Herojit, Kamei Gaohemlung, Mangsatabam Premkumar, and Rabindra Singh are currently receiving medical care. The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal is playing a crucial role in attending to the wounded personnel.

The tragedy unfolded in Lilong Chingjao, where armed miscreants, disguised in police uniforms and traveling in four vehicles, indiscriminately opened fire on unsuspecting civilians.
The assailants’ actions resulted in a devastating toll, with four fatalities and numerous critical injuries among the innocent victims.
