Ayodhya, Jan 18: To mark the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, all central government offices across India will operate for only half a day, according to Union Minister Jitendra Singh.

The decision, made in consideration of the widespread sentiments surrounding the event, aims to allow employees to participate in the celebrations.

The Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha ceremony, scheduled for January 22, will witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and various dignitaries.

In anticipation of this significant event, the pran-pratishtha ceremonies commenced on January 16 at the Ayodhya temple complex, with specific rituals performed daily leading up to the main ceremony.

The official order issued to all central government ministries and departments states, “To enable employees to participate in the celebrations, it has been decided that all central government offices, central institutions, and central industrial establishments throughout India will be closed for half a day till 1430 hours on 22nd January 2024.”

In a related development, the Bar Council of India has written a letter to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, urging him to declare January 22 a holiday.

The letter emphasized the immense religious, historical, and cultural significance of the Shri Ram Mandir inauguration, noting its importance for millions of people and its culmination of long-awaited dreams and pivotal legal proceedings defining the nation’s structure.
