1. Heavy rainfall since June 16 inundates Guwahati, halting city activities.
2. Traffic jams intensify on Maniram Dewan Road due to waterlogging.
3. Commuters face prolonged delays as vehicles remain stranded in flooded areas.
Guwahati, June 20: Continuous rainfall since Sunday, June 16, has led to severe waterlogging across Guwahati, bringing the city to a standstill.
Major traffic jams have occurred, particularly on Maniram Dewan Road, a crucial link between Bamunimaidan and Chandmari, leaving vehicles stranded for extended periods and causing significant inconvenience for commuters.
The situation on Maniram Dewan Road is worsened by the ongoing construction of a 6km flyover connecting Dighalipukhuri with Bamunimaidan, which began in December last year.
The construction has already narrowed the road, causing frequent congestion even under normal circumstances.

The recent waterlogging has exacerbated the issue, making the stretch almost impassable.
Beyond Maniram Dewan Road, the relentless rain has submerged several other areas, including Hatigaon, Rukmini Gaon on GS Road, Maligaon, Beltola, Rajgarh, Nabin Nagar, and Anil Nagar.
These low-lying regions have faced severe waterlogging for over a decade, and the current deluge has worsened the situation, disrupting daily life and vehicular movement.
Overflowing sewage water has entered many homes in the affected areas, damaging valuable possessions.
While floodwaters have receded in some localities, others remain submerged, continuing to impact the daily lives of residents.
