Guwahati, Feb 08: Tragedy struck at the Sukanjuli firing range situated on the Indo-Bhutan border in Tamulpur district, claiming the life of a 32-year-old man in a devastating explosion.

The unfortunate incident unfolded during an armed training session conducted by the Indian Army, involving the Punjab Regiment and G.R. Tan Madras Regiment.

The victim, identified as Khempo Narzary, hailed from Hartola village under the jurisdiction of the Darangamela police station. Ignoring the dangers, Narzary ventured into the firing range and began collecting the remnants of bomb gunpowder strewn across the area.

Tragically, the situation took a fatal turn when Narzary attempted to dismantle an 81-mortar bomb, triggering a powerful explosion that cost him his life.

Following the explosion, local authorities swiftly responded to the scene, recovering Narzary’s body and initiating the necessary procedures for an autopsy.
