Shimla, Nov 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi ushered in the festival of lights, Diwali, in a special and heartfelt manner this year by reaching Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh to celebrate the auspicious occasion with the brave soldiers safeguarding the nation.

Sharing the news on X, formerly known as Twitter, PM Modi expressed his excitement, stating, “Reached Lepcha in Himachal Pradesh to celebrate Diwali with our brave security forces,” accompanied by snapshots of the warm and spirited celebrations.

In the shared photos, Prime Minister Modi exuded camaraderie as he sported military attire, engaging in conversations and interactions with the dedicated security personnel stationed in the region.

This marked the ninth consecutive year in which PM Modi celebrated Diwali with the soldiers, underscoring his unwavering commitment to expressing gratitude and solidarity with the armed forces.

Since assuming office in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has made it a tradition to visit military facilities during Diwali, fostering a personal connection with the soldiers who serve on the front lines.

His inaugural Diwali celebration with security forces took place in 2014 at the Siachen Glacier, followed by visits to memorials in Punjab in 2015, Himachal Pradesh near the China border in 2016, and the Gurez sector in North Kashmir in 2017.

PM Modi continued this tradition by spending Diwali with soldiers in various regions, including Uttarakhand’s Harsil in 2018, Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri in 2019, and the border post of Longewala in 2020.

Earlier on the same day, PM Modi extended his warm Diwali wishes to the nation, expressing, “Wishing everyone a Happy Diwali! May this special festival bring joy, prosperity and wonderful health to everyone’s lives.”

Diwali, also known as the ‘festival of lights,’ symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, celebrated on the 15th day of the month of Kartik, known as Amavasya. The Prime Minister’s heartfelt celebrations with the soldiers reinforce the spirit of unity and gratitude during this significant festival.
