Agartala, Sept 22: Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended a 36-year-old man, Bishik Chakma, and confiscated two pistols from him at Dharmanagar Railway station in Tripura’s North District. The arrest took place on Thursday evening, and Chakma, a resident of Karbook in Gomati District, was found in possession of these two pistols.

Uttam Kumar Kalai, the Officer-in-Charge of GRP, explained that they had received prior information about Chakma’s activities. As a result, they conducted a search on a train traveling from Silchar to Agartala.

The investigation revealed that Chakma was involved in a high-stakes arms trade, having acquired two pistols from Dimapur, Nagaland, with one valued at Rs 45,000 and the other at Rs 4,000. He had intended to sell these arms in Bangladesh.

This isn’t the first encounter with law enforcement for Chakma; he was previously been apprehended in 2020.
