Muallungthu repolling

1. Repolling is underway at Muallungthu polling station in Aizawl South III (ST) Assembly Constituency, 19 kilometers from Aizawl city.
2. Voting began at 7 am and will continue until 5 pm, with a steady turnout observed.
3. A total of 700 voters have been recorded as of 1:30 pm, out of the polling booth’s 1,084 voters, with election officials replaced from the previous night.


Aizawl, Nov 10: Repolling is currently underway at the Muallungthu polling station in the Aizawl South III (ST) Assembly Constituency, situated approximately 19 kilometers from Aizawl city. The voting commenced at 7 am and will continue until 5 pm, with a steady turnout of voters observed so far.

As of 1:30 pm today, a total of 700 voters have been recorded. The polling booth, hosting the repolling, has a total of 1,084 voters, including 536 males and 548 females. It’s worth noting that the election officials who conducted polling on Tuesday night have been replaced, and a new team is overseeing the polling today.

“Repolling is underway in a peaceful manner at the Muallungthu voting center in Mizoram’s Aizawl South-III constituency,” officials confirmed on November 10. The repolling was deemed necessary as voting personnel failed to clear the mock poll ahead of the Assembly election held on Tuesday. The repolling, which began at 7 a.m., will continue until 4 p.m.

“By 9 a.m., 20% of the 1,084 electors in the polling station had cast their votes,” officials reported. “There is no law and order issue, and voting has been peaceful so far,” added a senior poll official.

A total of four candidates are contesting in the Aizawl South-III constituency, with the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) fielding sitting MLA Lalnunmawia, Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) nominating debutant Baryl Vanneihsangi, Congress fielding Rosiamngheta, and Zaichhawna Hlawndo of the Zoramthar group contesting as an independent.

The polling for the 40-member Mizoram Assembly took place on Tuesday, witnessing a voter turnout of 80.43%. The counting of votes is scheduled for December 3.
