Gulmarg, Nov 10: Gulmarg, a renowned tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir, has welcomed the season’s inaugural snowfall, transforming into a winter wonderland. The higher regions of the Kashmir Valley, including Peer Ki Gali, Zojila, and Gulmarg, have witnessed fresh snowfall, while the lower areas are experiencing rainfall.

The recent snowfall has brought about a change in weather conditions across Kashmir. Mountainous areas have been blanketed with heavy snow since last night, leading to a considerable drop in temperatures in the plains due to persistent heavy rain. The Meteorological Department predicts unsettled weather for the next 24 hours.

As a precautionary measure, Kishtwar-Anantnag and Mughal Road have been closed to traffic following snowfall in high-altitude areas. The closure was prompted by snowfall between Poshana and Peer Ki Gali, impacting the highway that links the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu with south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Authorities have taken steps to remove stranded vehicles.
