Guwahati, March 20: The Directorate of Education in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Kokrajhar, in response to an RTI application, revealed that there is no government Amendment Bill in place to provincialize 10 Degree Colleges in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

According to the information provided, the selection of these colleges was based on a letter dated December 16, 2023, following the minutes of a committee meeting held on December 14, 2023.

Despite the announcement of provincialization by the BTR board government on December 28, 2023, no formal legislation exists for the process.

BTR government spokesperson Wilson Hasda highlighted the significance of provincializing these colleges during a press conference.

The colleges earmarked for provincialization include Tamulpur College, Musalpur College, Tamulpur Degree College, Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma College, Dimakuchi College, Borobazar College, Bhergaon College, Zamduar College, Koklabari Chapaguri College, and Runikhata College.

This decision will also integrate 259 positions, including 79 staff professors, 65 tutors, 108 non-teaching staff, and seven office staff (tutors), aimed at enhancing the educational landscape in the BTR region.
