This decisive move follows a series of incidents escalating tensions, prompting authorities to take stringent measures to safeguard public safety and uphold law and order.

Deputy Commissioner Atul Tayeng, from the office of the Leparada District, enacted this executive action in response to the escalating unrest as the state prepares for simultaneous elections to the State Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha in 2024.

Numerous unauthorized checkpoints, manned by various groups and individuals, have sprung up across the district.

While ostensibly established for security reasons, these checkpoints have inconvenienced the public and raised fears of potential disruptions to law and order.

Under Shri Atul Tayeng’s executive order, the carrying of lethal weapons within Leparada District is strictly prohibited, with authorized personnel mandated to seize any such weapons.

Furthermore, movement and gatherings of more than four persons are restricted during specified nighttime hours, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

These directives remain in force for the duration of the election process, underscoring the critical importance of maintaining peace and order during this crucial period.
