Sikkim, May 24: Sikkim witnessed huge traffic jams on Monday after the government opened ration shops in the second phase of the lockdown in the state.
This happened after the state imposed a week-long total lockdown to break the chain of the spread of coronavirus.
There were long queues outside shops and bumper-to-bumper traffic jams on the road — all trying to get their hands on grocery and vegetables in the early relaxation hour in Sikkim, that is from 8 am to 11 am.
With neighbouring states also under lockdown, retailers, and wholesalers in the state have struggled to get more ration during this time after the lockdown.
