Agartala, Jan 01: The Tripura government has taken a significant step to extend social pension benefits to an additional 29,410 impoverished individuals starting January 2024, as announced by Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy.
Presently, 3,80,668 people receive a monthly pension of Rs 2,000 under various pension schemes from both the central and state governments, totaling 34 schemes.

The decision to include an additional 29,410 beneficiaries in the ‘Mukhyamantri’ social pension scheme reflects the state government’s commitment to providing financial support to the underprivileged.
Each eligible individual will receive a monthly pension of Rs 2,000, aimed at improving their economic well-being.
Minister Tinku Roy emphasized that Tripura leads among northeastern states in terms of the population benefiting from social pensions, with the state providing financial assistance to the highest number of people.
The existing pension structure includes the central government offering social pensions to 1,51,348 individuals through three schemes, while the state government extends pensions to 2,29,320 people under 30 different schemes.
In response to this welfare initiative, BJP state spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee expressed gratitude to the state government for expanding the coverage of beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri pension scheme.
This move is expected to positively impact the lives of thousands of vulnerable individuals in Tripura, providing them with essential financial support and improving their overall quality of life.
