Shillong, Oct 21: Local college students of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) took out a rally on Thursday demanding that the college must hold to reserve 10% of the seats for college students of Meghalaya.

The rally was prepared by the KSU NEHU Unit and the North-Eastern Hill University Students’ Union (NEHUSU).

The rally become held beforehand of the Academic Council assembly convened via way of means of NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla.

NEHUSU finance secretary Wailad Siangshai stated they obtained facts that the NEHU government had been making plans to put off the 10% reservation policy for local college students belonging to the Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo groups and are making plans to enforce the coverage of awarding 10 extra factors or marks to neighborhood college students in search of admission into the college.

He pointed out that local students would face problems in getting admission to NEHU in the future since they would have to compete with students from other states after the introduction of CUET.

He additionally said that neighborhood college students had been dealing with plenty of confusion because of the creation of CUET.
