Itanagar, Jan 26: Twelve distinct products from Arunachal Pradesh have received Geographical Indication (GI) tags, thanks to the assistance of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), according to an official statement.

Among these products are textiles from Apatani, Monpa, Adi, Galo, Tai Khamti, and Nyishi communities, along with Monpa handmade paper, Singpho Phalap (Singpho tea), Adi Apong, Dao (machete), Angnyat millet, and Marua Apo (Marua millet beverage), as revealed by NABARD district development manager Kamal Roy.

This achievement underscores the commitment of local communities to preserving their traditional and unique products, which reflect the rich social and cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.

Over the past two years, NABARD has played an active role in supporting the GI registration process, utilizing the expertise of Dr. Rajni Kant, a Padma Shri awardee and a specialist in the field.

A total of 18 products endorsed by NABARD have successfully secured coveted GI registration in the state.
