172 New cases push Mizoram COVID-19 tally to 6,964

Mizoram, May 6: 172 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in Mizoram in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 6,964, an official said on Thursday.

The official said that at least 3,205 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and 5.40 per cent of them came out positive for COVID-19.

Three cases were confirmed at a TrueNat lab, 71 cases detected through RT-PCR tests at Zoram Medical College and the remaining 98 cases were detected through Rapid Antigen Test, he said.

Of the 172 fresh cases, Aizawl district reported the highest cases at 130, followed by Lunglei (11), Mamit (8), Saitual (6), Champhai and Serchhip (5) each, (2) each from Lawngtlai, Kolasib and Siaha districts and one from Khawzawl district, the official said.

Mizoram current tally has 1,642 active COVID-19 cases, while 5,305 people have recovered from the virus.

The death toll remained unchanged at 17.
