192 new COVID cases in Mizoram, 1 death

Mizoram, May 30: Mizoram on Sunday reported the highest single-day spike of 329 COVID cases, pushing the tally to 11,988, an official said.

The COVID-19 death toll in the state rose to 36 as a 76-year-old man from Aizawl district succumbed to the disease at the Zoram Medical College on Sunday morning, he said.

At least 4,109 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and 8.00 per cent of them came out positive for COVID-19.

Of the 329 patients, 162 have developed symptoms of COVID-19.

Mizoram now has 3,089 active COVID-19 cases, while 8,863 people have recovered from the infection.

The state has tested 3,89,007 samples for COVID-19 to date.

State immunization officer Dr Lalzawmi said that 2,56,741 people have been vaccinated of which 52,067 people have received both doses of the vaccine till Saturday.
