23-day-old baby and 10 others tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur

Guwahati, May 20: Manipur on Wednesday has reported 11 people tested positive cases for COVID-19 including a 23-day-old baby.

With the new cases, the state tally has now increased to 20.

Confirming the report, Manipur Health department Additional Director and Spokesperson Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said that, out of the 11 new patients, six are males including a 23-day-old baby and five are females.

“They were tested at Viral Research & Diagnostic Laboratory  (VRDL), Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) and found positive for COVID-19. Nine of them were returned to the state from Chennai and two persons were returned from Delhi and Guwahati. The total number of positive cases in the state has increased to 20 and two patients were discharged from hospital,” the Manipur Health Department official said.

Out of the new cases, 10 patients are from Churachandpur district and one from the Imphal East district.

The state has now 18 active positive cases for COVID-19.
