Assam reports 28 more COVID-19 positive cases, state tally rises to 378:

Guwahati, May 24: Assam on Sunday has registered 28 more COVID-19 positive cases taking the state tally to 378.

The new cases have been reported from Nalbari, Kamrup, Hojai, Kamrup (Metro), Nagaon, Morigaon, West Karbi Anglong districts.

Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, the new cases have been reported from different districts of the state and with the 28 fresh cases the state tally has now increased to 378.

He tweeted – “20 new cases of #COVID19+ confirmed. 6 Nalbari; 5 Kamrup; 4 Hojai; 2 Kamrup Metro; 2 Nagaon; 1 Morigaon. Total cases 378.”

He further said that, out of the total positive cases registered in the state, almost 90 percent of cases have reported from quarantine centers.

“Most of the cases have travel history from outside of the state,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

The Assam Health minister also said that, till Sunday, the state has conducted a total of 59,553 testing.

“Our testing capacity has now increased to almost 2500 per day. In next week, we will do in a position to test 5000 samples in a day,” Himanta said.

The state has now 314 active COVID-19 positive cases.

Out of them four patients died and 39 others were discharged from hospitals.

One COVID-19 patient was migrated to Bihar.
