35 thousand doses of Coronavirus vaccine arrive in Meghalaya

Meghalaya, Jan 13: Meghalaya received its first consignment of Coronavirus vaccine – Covishield. A total of 35 thousand doses of Coronavirus vaccine – Covishield reached Shillong in Meghalaya.

The consignment of 35 thousand doses of Covishield, the first batch, to be received by Meghalaya arrived at the State Vaccination Center in Shillong.

The consignment was immediately shifted to a cold storage facility. The first phase of Coronavirus vaccine will begin on January 16 across the Country.

Notably, the vaccination drive in India will be the biggest vaccination effort in the world.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma informed that as many as 11 sites have been identified across Meghalaya for the first phase of vaccination drive.

35,000 doses of Covishield have arrived safely at the State Vaccination Center, Shillong. This will set in motion the world’s biggest vaccination effort from 16th Jan 2021. 11 sites have been identified across Meghalaya for the launch event,” said Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.

Earlier on Tuesday, the first batch of a consignment of COVID-19 vaccines for Assam and Meghalaya reached Guwahati.

The flight transporting the COVID-19 vaccines consignment, weighing 732 kilograms, landed at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport at 5:10 pm on Tuesday.

Of the total 20 boxes of Covishield, containing 12 a thousand doses each, that arrived in Guwahati, 17 boxes are for Assam and 3 for Meghalaya.

The Centre will start vaccinating frontline workers against coronavirus from January 16.

Notably, along with the rest of the country, dry run for COVID-19 vaccination have been conducted successfully in all Northeast States.
