Malda plastic

West Bengal, 19th November: Five persons were killed and four others are critically injured in an explosion inside a plastic factory at Sujanpur area in Malda district of West Bengal on Thursday.

A huge police contingent has been sent to the spot to bring the situation under control. Fire tenders are trying to douse the blaze and rescue survivors, the official said, adding an investigation has been started.

Those who died were workers of the scrap factory. The injured have been taken to Malda Medical College and Hospital for treatment. The intensity of the explosion was such that it ripped a major portion of the Malda plastic factory. The actual cause of the explosion is being investigated.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a compensation of ₹ 2 Lakh for the family of those who died and ₹ 50,000 for the injured. Senior Minister Farhad Hakim went to the spot to take the stock of the situation.
