Two Minor Girls Rescued From Being Trafficked In Bhorpur Village

Guwahati, Nov 19: The 24th Battalion SSB Rangia, an Army unit, and ACRD, a Guwahati-based NGO, are conducting an anti-human trafficking operation under Navneet Kumar Yadav, Assistant Commandant. In Bhogpur village, a district under Goreswar Police Station, Assam the team saved two minor girls.

According to on-the-spot investigations, the minor girls were victims of domestic violence and, in one case, their own father raped them in one of the villages under the Goreswar Police Station in Baksa district.

At Goreswar Police Station, an FIR has been filed against the suspect, who has been absconding. A few days later, the women were handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Mushalpur under the care of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

SSB Rangia Commandant Hrishikesh Sharma said the joint operation was a breakthrough in fighting human trafficking on the Indo-Bhutan border and will serve as a strong deterrent going forward.

In the past, this unit has conducted several notable anti-human-trafficking operations, saving more than 50 children from traffickers’ clutches.
