Pakistan Cattle crane

Karachi, July 05: A video from Pakistan is sending shock waves and raising questions in which it is seen that a cattle is being carried by a crane. Yes, you read correctly. This is not an unusual thing for residents of Pakistan’s Karachi as Syed Ejaz Ahmad does the same every year for Eid al-Adha or Bakrid.

Syed Ejaz Ahmad raises cattle in a rooftop barn. Every year for the festival of Eid al-Adha he lowers them 40 feet to the ground using a crane before they are sacrificed for their meat.

The question arises that why People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is not taking action and reacting to this.

Sacrificial cattle owner, Syed Ejaz Ahmad: “I make the animals climb up the stairs when they are small. But when they grow up, it is impossible to bring them down the stairs. That’s why we hire a crane to bring them down.”

Ahmad has been carrying out the practice for 18 years drawing crowds of onlookers.

Local resident, Mohammad Hanzala: “In the past, I used to come here with my friends, but this time I came along. It is very enjoyable to watch the animals being lowered. In the past, five or six animals were lowered, but this year there were only two animals. It is a source of great enjoyment.”
