Agartala, March 06: Manik Saha was unanimously elected as the leader of BJP’s newly elected legislators in Tripura on Monday, clearing his way to assume the office of chief minister for a second consecutive term.
In the recently concluded state election, the BJP won 32 seats of the 60-member Assembly. The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), BJP’s ally, won one seat.

The oath-taking ceremony of the chief minister and cabinet ministers will take place on March 8. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the ceremony.

Saha, a former Congress leader who joined the BJP in 2016, was made the chief minister of Tripura 10 months before the state went to polls. He replaced Biplab Kumar Deb as the CM.
Before joining politics, Manik Saha, who is an oral and maxillofacial surgery specialist, used to teach at Tripura Medical College located in Hapania.
