Visva Bharati invites PM Modi on 100th Foundation day

Bengal, 3rd December: The authority of Visva Bharati University has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 100th founding day in Shantiniketan of Bolpur city under Birbhum district in West Bengal.

Kishore Bhattacharya, the authority member of Visva-Bharat said “We had a meeting among administration and our staff committee to discuss the upcoming Poush Utsav amid this COVID situation. To maintain the Government protocols, we have to organize this Poush Utsav in our Chatimtola and Upasona Bhawan. This year will be special because Viswa Bharati is situated in 1921, in 2021 it will be 100 years, so if our preceptor will come, it will be great, and the vice-chancellor is trying to bring him. Many important VIPs along with some central ministers are also expected to attend the ceremony.”

Vice-Chancellor Bidyut Chakraborty, Acting Working Secretary Ashok Mahat, and a representative of the staff Santiniketan Trust hold a meeting with ongoing staffs.

Our primary discussion was about how we will organize it in COVID situation. The staff committee members, members of Viswa Bharati trust, the members of Alapini association along the vice-chancellor from the administration were present. Our working secretary was there and we had a long discussion. After that, we have decided on four names for our four gates which we have. We made a committee and they decided the names. Vice-chancellor discussed how we can maintain the Dormitory,” Bhattacharya said.

The main concern is to follow the protocols of COVID while organizing this.

“He listened to everyone’s suggestion. He also talked about gate and field decoration. As he is the head of Viswa Bharati, he talked with other members and the CMO. He will take the decision. The main discussion was about how we can organize the Poush Utsav nicely. There will be more meetings in the upcoming days. We will celebrate the foundation day on 8th Poush at Amro Kunjo. We are inviting our Chancellor, the central education minister, our director, and many other respected persons. We will make an invitation card. Poush Utsav and all other programs will be organized,” Bhattacharya added.

The 100th foundation day program in Visva Bharati will be organized in respect of Maharshi Debendranath Tagore and Rabindranath Tagore.

We and all the members will decide everything along with the budget. We have invited the chancellor. He is a busy person. The Vice-chancellor will try to bring him. We will organize the program by giving respect to Maharshi Debendranath Tagore and Rabindranath Tagore. We will work to glorify our organization with the cooperation of everyone,” said Kishore Bhattacharya.

Visva-Bharati is a public research centre university and an Institution of National Importance located in West Bengal. It was founded by Rabindranath Tagore who called it Visva-Bharati, which means the communion of the world with India. Until independence, it was a college. Soon after independence, the institution was given the status of a central university in 1951 by an act of the Parliament.
