Northeast, 7th November: In the backdrop of the border dispute between Assam & Mizoram, a 12 hour Cachar Bandh has been called by All Cachar Karimganj Haliakandi Students Association (ACKHSA) on Saturday.
The ‘Barak Bandh’ called by ACKHSA has started at 5:00 AM in the morning and will extend till 5:00 PM in the evening. Since in the morning the members of ACKHSA have been seen standing at Highway with placards.
Silchar District Congress Committee has also come forward to support this Bandh along with other parties. Some nonpolitical organization also extended the support.
Rupam Nandi Purakayastha, founder of ACKHSA said “We called the 12 hrs Band in Barak Valley due to Assam – Mizoram dispute. Mizoram police have captured the 2 km land of Assam in the border area. Not only this they also kidnapped an Assam people and after that killed him. To protest on this matter we call this Bandh. Our Bandh is been successful till now. We strongly condemn the atrocities of Mizoram upon the people of Assam. We are demanding to demolish the present government of Mizoram and presidential rule in that state. We call this bandh to send a message to the Central government.”
