APSC Chairman

Guwahati, June 29: The Governor of Assam has appointed Dr. Ajanta Nath, a member of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), to perform the duties of the office of the Chairman, Assam Public Service Commission, with immediate effect until further order.

The office of the APSC chairman was lying vacant after the retirement of Rajiv Kumar Bora.

The appointment was made by the governor of Assam, Professor Jagdish Mukhi. The order reads, ”In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1A) of Article 316 of the constitution of India, the governor of Assam is pleased to appoint Dr. Ajanta Nath, Member, Assam Public Service Commision, to perform the duties of the office of chairman, Assam Public Service Commision, with immediate effect until further order.”

Ajanta Nath has been serving as a number of the APSC since 2048. The total strength of the APSC consists of six members and a Chairman.

A resident of Jamugurihat in Sonitpur, Nath is an Associate Professor at Tyagbir Hem Barua college in Jamugurihat.
