Kohima, Feb 07: The All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) has strongly denounced an alleged incident of police brutality against a B.A (MC) 2nd-semester student of Tetso College on January 29.

According to a press release by the ANCSU, the student reportedly suffered severe injuries including a damaged left eardrum, fractured spinal cord, and swollen kidney due to the assault by police personnel.

The ANCSU expressed profound shock and dismay over the incident, emphasizing the crucial role of law enforcement agencies in ensuring public safety.

However, the union lamented the abuse of power and breach of trust by the police force in this case.

The union condemned the excessive use of force against a college student, stating that such actions not only undermine the principles of justice and fairness but also diminish public trust in law enforcement.

Describing the incident as a blatant violation of human rights and the core principles of a just and democratic society, the ANCSU called for holding responsible police personnel accountable and preventing similar occurrences in the future.
