Mamata Assam

Kolkata, June 23: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee takes a jib on the BJP-led Assam government by saying that during the flood situation in Assam, Maharashtra MLAs were sent to that state to disturb the affected people.

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee tweeted about the situation in the Assam and blamed the BJP is busy following orders from Delhi to play HOST to REBEL MLAs.

Thursday morning, several Trinamool Congress (TMC) members and workers of the Assam unit were detained for staging a protest outside Raddision Blu Hotel in Guwahati where rebel Maharashtra MLAs of Eknath Shinde’s camp are staying. They have accused the BJP of hosting the ‘sale’ of MLAs amid the Assam floods.

Several MLAs, led by Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, are camped at a hotel in Assam’s Guwahati, plunging the MVA government into a political crisis.

The protest was led by TMC’s state president Ripun Bora. A worker was quoted by ANI as saying “Around 20 Lakh people in Assam are suffering due to the flood. But CM is busy toppling Maharashtra Govt”

Assam cops have removed TMC leader Ripun Bora from the protest site outside Radisson Blu along with other TMC protesters. Bora blamed CM Homanta Biswa Sarma for facilitating dissidents from Maharashtra when people were dying in the devastating floods in Assam.

The current political turmoil in Maharashtra started when Eknath Shinde, along with 26 MLAs, went missing after the results of the MLC polls were declared, a development believed to be a result of cross-voting by certain MLAs of the ruling government. According to sources, around 42 MLAs are believed to be camping at the hotel in Guwahati.

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray moved out of his official residence, Varsha, to the family’s private home, ‘Matoshree’ on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut claimed about 20 MLAs are in touch with them.

Earlier in the day, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the PM should visit the state and announce a special package. He said that the PM is busy toppling the Maharashtra government and also with the Gujarat elections at a time when floods have hit the state.
