Imphal, April 15: Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared in Imphal on Monday that Manipur’s unity would be preserved, alleging attempts to alter the state’s demography through infiltration.

He emphasized the Lok Sabha election as a battle between forces striving to maintain Manipur’s unity and those seeking to fracture it.

Shah assured, “No matter the efforts made, we won’t allow Manipur to break apart,” underscoring the commitment to peace and unity under the Narendra Modi government.

He highlighted Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s demand for an inner-line permit to safeguard Manipur’s integrity, a request fulfilled by the BJP government.

Referring to the tragic ethnic clashes in Manipur last year, Shah stressed the significance of transforming the destiny of the country by addressing the challenges in the Northeast, particularly in Manipur.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoed similar sentiments, noting significant improvements in the state’s situation owing to government interventions and collaborative efforts.

In a recent interview, PM Modi acknowledged the positive developments in Manipur, attributing them to the concerted efforts of both the central and state governments.

Last year, PM Modi had assured the people of Manipur of India’s support and commitment to resolving their challenges, pledging parliamentary solidarity in finding solutions to their grievances.
