Agartala, March 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to embark on a two-day visit to Tripura commencing April 7, wherein he will headline a rally and conduct a roadshow as part of the BJP’s electoral campaign for the state’s two Lok Sabha seats.

The visit is also expected to encompass an organizational meeting with party leaders.

“Amit Shah ji, who is scheduled to address a rally in Mizoram on April 7, is likely to arrive in Tripura on the same day. He will hold an organizational meeting, address a rally in Gumati district’s Udaipur, and a roadshow in Agartala,” affirmed BJP state general secretary Amit Rakshit.

The anticipation surrounding Shah’s visit has prompted proactive preparations, with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha convening a meeting with senior party members to strategize and coordinate arrangements for the forthcoming event.

Elections for the Tripura West Lok Sabha constituency and a by-poll for the Ramnagar assembly seat are slated for April 19, while the Tripura East parliamentary constituency is scheduled to go to the polls on April 26.

Rakshit further disclosed that a lineup of prominent BJP figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda, and party MP Hema Malini, are expected to follow suit with visits to the northeastern state, bolstering the party’s campaign efforts.

“We have already sent a wishlist for star campaigners to the party’s central leadership. We have started campaigns for the elections with Chief Minister Manik Saha leading us,” Rakshit elucidated.

In the electoral fray, the BJP has nominated Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb for the Tripura West Lok Sabha seat, while Kriti Devi Debbarman is vying for the Tripura East parliamentary constituency.
