Accused of videography and uploading pornographic video content on the Internet, an assistant professor in Assam gets Arrested
Accused of videography and uploading pornographic video content on the Internet, an assistant professor of Dibrugarh University in Assam was arrested on Friday after an FIR was lodged by the registrar of the university against him.
He was in his 30s and professor of Mathematics in the University.
“In the viral video, a person resembling the educator is seen with a woman in a compromising state. On Thursday evening, we raided his house and seized his laptop,” informed the Dibrugarh District Superintendent of Police Sreejith T to PTI.
“The professor confessed during interrogation that he had videographed the pornographic content with a woman in a hotel in Guwahati three years ago,” he added.
The police have confiscated camera which had been used for filming in a raid in the Amolapatty area of Dibrugarh.
Although the accused has claimed that the woman seen in the video was not a student of the university and the Dibrugarh district police have verified the claim with authorities of the University, an enquiry commission has been set up to investigate the matter.
“On getting information about a viral video of the assistant professor, we issued him a show-cause notice on June 26 seeking an explanation within five days. His reply came on June 30 but upon finding it unsatisfactory, we lodged an FIR against him,” PTI quoted Dibrugarh University Registrar Harin Mahanta saying.
He has been charged under relevant IPC sections and will be produced to court as investigation proceeds.
