Jorhat, April 20: The announcement of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Exam results in Assam has brought forth notable achievements and insights into the academic landscape of the state.

Conducted from February 16th to March 4th, 2024, the results were declared on April 20th, 2024, reflecting a swift turnaround time of 45 days post-examination.

Out of the 4,25,966 candidates who applied for the exam, a significant number of 6,888 were absent, with 361 withheld and 61 expelled, leaving a total of 4,19,078 candidates who appeared.

This cohort comprised 1,87,904 male candidates, 2,31,164 female candidates, and 10 transgender candidates.

The overall pass percentage stood at 75.7%, showcasing a commendable performance by the students. Male candidates achieved a pass percentage of 77.3%, while female candidates closely followed at 74.4%, and transgender candidates led with an impressive 80% pass rate.

Celebrating academic excellence, a total of 6,392 candidates secured distinction marks, defined as 85% and above, while 20,552 were recognized as STAR mark holders, achieving scores ranging from 75% to 84.99%. Furthermore, the results revealed 1,05,873 Division 1 holders, inclusive of both distinction and STAR mark holders, along with 1,50,764 Division 2 holders and 60,680 Division 3 holders.

The distribution of letter mark holders totaled 1,93,159, with the highest concentration observed in the Social Science subject, boasting 36,973 recipients.

Across districts, Chirang emerged as the top performer with an outstanding pass percentage of 91.2%, followed closely by Nalbari at 88.1%, and Baksa at 86.9%. However, Udalguri district reported the lowest pass percentage at 60.9%, indicating varying academic landscapes across regions.

In the Order of Merit, Anurag Doloi from Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School, Jorhat, secured the top position with an exceptional score of 593 marks.

He was followed by Jharna Saik?? from Shankardev Shishu Vidya Niketan, Chariali, Biswanath, with 590 marks, and Manash Pratim Saikia from Island Academy, Kamalabari, Majuli, with 588 marks.

Bedanta Choudhury from Stella Maris School, Sarupeta, Barpeta, and Devashree Kashyap from Ramanujan Senior Secondary School, Nagaon, both achieved 588 marks, rounding up the top five performers.

The results were further categorized based on various parameters, with the pass percentages as follows: GENERAL: 76.6%, OBC: 76.6%, MOBC: 75.1%, SC: 70.3%, ST (H): 78.9%, ST (P): 79.1%, and TEA GARDEN (TG): 51.5%.

Overall, the results signify not just academic achievements but also the dedication and resilience of students amidst challenging circumstances, highlighting the continuous pursuit of excellence in education across Assam.
