Itanagar, June 05: Pema Khandu, the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, took to Twitter to emphasize the importance of tackling the escalating issue of plastic pollution on the occasion of World Environment Day 2023.

In his tweet, he urged individuals to embrace a lifestyle that prioritizes the environment and to contribute towards saving the planet for future generations.

“It’s time to #BeatPlasticPollution. The #WorldEnvironmentDay2023 is significantly themed on tackling the growing menace of #plastic pollution. Let’s adopt Lifestyle for the Environment – LiFE – in its letter and spirit to save the earth for our future generations. The Pakke Declaration is a testament to our resolve to retain the resilience of the environment and fight #ClimateCrisis. I urge you all to supplement our green efforts and be responsible in matters of plastic. Your actions matter a lot and will make a difference too!”, CM Tweet.

The CM also posted a picture of himself, planting a sapling to lead by example in
making Arunachal greener and pollution-free.

Khandu highlighted that the theme of this year’s World Environment Day focuses on
addressing the growing menace of plastic pollution. He urged people to adopt the
concept of “Lifestyle for the Environment”, abbreviated as “LiFE”, both in words and
actions to combat this pressing issue.

Referring to the Pakke Declaration, which signifies the state’s commitment to preserving the environment and combating the climate crisis, the Chief Minister called for collective efforts to supplement the green initiatives already in place.
