Itanagar, March 18: After Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Friday Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu watched ‘The Kashmir Files’ on Holi and said that “The movie is not only about sufferings of Kashmiri Hindu community, but a big step towards dismantling of an ecosystem that has always decided for us what is true or false.”

The Kashmir Files is breaking all box office records. Within a week of release, The Kashmir Files has managed to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. The film is going houseful in many locations and is expected to do great business even in the second week after release.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced that state government employees can avail a half-day leave to watch the recently released movie “The Kashmir Files“, which is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990s.

“Glad to announce that our Govt employees will be entitled to half-day special leave to watch #TheKashmirFiles. They will have to only inform their superior officers and submit the tickets the next day,” Sarma said.

Directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the film features Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumaar, Chinmay Mandlekar, and Bhasha Sumbli. It is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus during the Kashmir insurgency in 1990.

Anupam Kher, who plays Pushkarnath Pandit, in Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files shared the good news that their film has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in just seven days at the box office. Sharing a picture on Instagram, Anupam Kher wrote, “Our film #TheKashmirFiles is showing its TRUE Colours! HAPPY HOLI to all! #Love #TruthWins #MagicOfCinema (sic).”

 

The Kashmir Files tells the true story of brutal sufferings endured by Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, during the Kashmir insurgency. It is a true story, based on video interviews of the first generation victims of The Kashmir Genocide of the Kashmiri Pandit Community. It’s a heart-wrenching narrative of the pain, suffering, struggle, and trauma of Kashmiri pandits and questions eye-opening facts about democracy, religion, politics, and humanity.

The Kashmir Files’ cast features Anupam Kher as Pushkarnath, Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt, Darshan Kumar as Krishna Pandit, Pallavi Joshi as Radhika Menon, Bhasha Sumbali as Shraddha Pandit, and Chinmay Mandlekar as Farooq Malik aka Bitta, among others. The film is bankrolled by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, and Vivek Agnihotri under the Zee Studios, IAmBuddha, and Abhishek Agarwal Arts banners.
