Tawang, Feb 06: In an extraordinary turn of weather events, the picturesque regions of Tawang, Roing, Mechuka, Anini, and Mayudia in Arunachal Pradesh have been enveloped by a remarkable snowfall, transforming the landscape into a mesmerizing winter wonderland.

The recent snowfall has brought both joy and challenges to residents and local authorities unaccustomed to such extreme weather conditions.

Residents of Tawang awoke to a breathtaking scene as the overnight snowfall blanketed the town and its surroundings in a thick layer of snow.

Similarly, Roing and Mayudia also witnessed the rare phenomenon, with snowflakes gently falling throughout the night, creating an enchanting spectacle for the locals.

However, due to the continuous bad weather and heavy snowfall, the traffic advisory has been partially modified to ensure safety on the roads.

Traffic movement on the BCT road between Jaswant Garh (Tawang) and Baisakhi in West Kameng District will be regulated, with vehicles allowed to move on alternate days.

Emergency service vehicles such as ambulances, power, and water supply vehicles will be permitted without restrictions, subject to weather and road conditions.

While the snowfall has delighted residents, it has also posed challenges for local authorities and essential services. Roadways have been temporarily disrupted, making travel difficult in and around these areas.

The district administration is working tirelessly to clear roads and ensure the safety of residents, urging caution and advising against unnecessary travel until the roadways are fully cleared.

In response to the adverse conditions, local schools and businesses have temporarily closed, prioritizing the safety of students and employees.

The Arunachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) is closely monitoring the situation and providing necessary support to the affected areas.

The unexpected snowfall has also led to a surge in tourism, with visitors flocking to witness the rare sight of snow-covered landscapes. Tourists are advised to follow safety guidelines and cooperate with local authorities for a smooth experience during their visit.
