ASDM organized SANKALP workshop at Chirang

Assam, Feb 23: Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) has organized a district workshop on Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for the Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP).

The program has been organized in the Chirang district in presence of Ashok Kumar Baishya.

SANKALP has a six-year implementation period till March 2023. SANKALP aims to address the ongoing challenges like bringing about convergence, infusing quality in skill development programs and making them market-relevant and accessible while ensuring private participation in the context of short-term training.

The workshop has four key result areas:

(i)    Institutional Strengthening at Central, State & District level

(ii)   Quality Assurance of skill development programs

(iii)  Inclusion of the marginalized population in skill development programs

(iv)  Expanding Skills through PPPs.

Assam Skill Development Mission has initiated a State-Sponsored Skill Development Training The program primarily aiming at training the youth of the state and offering them placements. The program is run on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Model. Training Partners are empanelled by ASDM after evaluation of their credentials and proposal.

ASDM has trained at least 1,18, 585 candidates. For the financial year 2020-21, the total target of 26,600 has been allotted to 396 training Centres, covering 33 districts in 24 Sectors and 83 unique job roles.

The centres were launched in December 2017, with a vision to provide Short Term Training to the youth so it helps them to gain employment in the state, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all the training centres across the state were closed from March 2020.
