Security measures were reinforced in anticipation of potential disruptions, yet the intense objection from the opposition surpassed expectations. The charged political atmosphere in the assembly set the stage for a contentious session.

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s announcement of the Assam Polygamy Ban Bill’s introduction added to the controversy, along with the presentation of the Assam Tourism (Development and Registration) Bill, 2024, and several other bills during the Budget Session.
