Guwahati, Feb 19: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam has summoned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and several other party officials over allegations of destroying public property during the Nyay Yatra political rally.

Rahul Gandhi, along with KC Venugopal, Jitendra Singh, Bhupen Borah, Gaurav Gogoi, Debabrata Saikia, Zakir Hussain Sikdar, and Ramen Kumar Sharma, have been directed to appear before the CID police station in Guwahati on February 23.

Failure to comply with the summons could result in arrest under section 41 A (3) of CrPC, as stated in the notice issued by Kaikhoseh Simte, Inspector of Police, CID, Guwahati.

The summons come about the investigation of FIR/Case No. 55/2024 dated 23/0102024 U/S 120B/142/147/283/253/332/ 333/188/427 IPC of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. 1984 registered at Police Station Basistha.

The CID expects the summoned officials to promptly respond and cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

The Nyay Yatra, organized by the Congress party in Assam, served as a political rally. However, specific details regarding the case have not been disclosed yet.
