Assam CM appeals to immigrant Muslims to adopt a decent family planning policy

Guwahati, June 11: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to immigrant Muslim people of the state to adopt a decent family planning policy for population control.

He said that population is the main root of every social menace and if we control it then social menace will be automatically reduced.

The Assam Chief Minister said that the family planning policy is already in place and it will be effective soon like government jobs and enacted the population policy in the last assembly, but the government want to work for the minority Muslim community to reduce population burden.

We want to work more for the minority Muslim community to reduce population burden. We want to work together with them so that the population in the state should be controlled. The population is the main root of social menace like poverty, land encroachment and we can reduce this social menace if the population will reduce,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Himanta Biswa Sarma further said that it has been already rolled out substantially like two-child norms in panchayat election, cooperative, municipal election.

We are working on it,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

On the occasion of the completion of 30 days of his government, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday appealed to all stakeholders to come forward and back the government in reducing all social menace.

He further said that his government will focus to educate the women of the minority Muslim community so that the problem can be addressed effectively.

The Assam Chief Minister also said that, his government will not allow anyone to encroach Satras, Namghars, holly places, forest lands and the leaders of the community have assured the government that they don’t seek encroachment in these places.
