Assam, 13th November: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a probe by the criminal investigation department (CID) of Assam Police into the death of senior journalist, Parag Bhuyan.
Journalist Bhuyan died after being hit by a car on Wednesday night at Kakopathar in Upper Assam, Tinsukia district.
Jagadish Bhuyan was a younger brother of former Assam minister, who is the chief convenor of the newly-formed political party, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP).
The CID probe order comes after the family members of the deceased, various organizations, political parties, and journalist’s fraternity demanded a proper probe into the incident.
“Taking note of various allegations regarding the death of senior journalist Parag Bhuyan, CM Shri @sarbanandsonwal has directed a CID inquiry into the matter,” the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on its Twitter handle.

Bhuyan was admitted to the Assam Medical College Hospital, Dibrugarh in critical condition but he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
Tinsukia Police have seized the vehicle that was involved in the incident and arrested the driver, James Mura from the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.
