Assam COVID-19 state tally increases to 798

Assam reports 15 new COVID-19 cases, state tally rises to 798:

Guwahati, May 28: The surge in the COVID-19 positive cases in Assam has been continued as the state on Thursday has registered 15 more positive cases for the novel Coronavirus, the state tally has now increased to 798.

The new 15 cases have been reported from Kamrup (Metro), Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur districts.

Confirming the report, Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted – “15 new cases of #COVID19+ reported. 11 Kamrup Metro, 3 Dibrugarh, 1 Lakhimpur. Total cases 798.”

The state has registered 406 positive cases for COVID-19 in last 72 hours.

On Wednesday, 101 positive cases for the new virus were detected in the state.

On the other hand, 25 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday evening.

The state Health minister said that, out of them, 22 patients were discharged from Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital in Guwahati, two from Silchar Medical College Hospital and one from Jorhat Medical College Hospital.

The state has now 704 active positive cases for COVID-19.

On the other hand, Nagaland on Thursday has reported nine fresh COVID-19 positive cases taking the state tally to 18.
