Assam reports 22 new COVID-19 positive cases, state tally rises to 704

Guwahati, May 27: Assam on Wednesday has reported 22 fresh positive cases for COVID-19, the state tally rises to 704.

Confirming the reports, Assam Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, one person resident of Kamrup (Metro) district who traveled from Ahmedabad to Guwahati by flight has been tested positive for COVID-19.

“It is the first air carrier patient detected in Assam. Out of the 22 cases, 14 cases have been reported from Golaghat district, three from Nagaon, two from Karbi Anglong, one each from Lakhimpur and Dhemaji district,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

He tweeted – “18 new cases of #COVID19+ incl first air carrier, a resident of Kamrup Metro, who traveled from Ahmedabad to Guwahati; 14 Golaghat, 2 Karbi Anglong, 1 Lakhimpur. Total cases 704.”

The state has registered 704 COVID-19 positive cases so far and 62 out of them were discharged from hospitals.

Assam has now 635 active positive cases for the new virus.
